The direction chose for the logo concepts were derived from the definitions of “modern” and “reckoning” as well as the core values of the Modern Reckoning brand.
reckoning: settling of accounts; summing up; computation; calculation of a ship’s position
modern: involving recent techniques, methods, or ideas
The idea of reckoning being also applicable to positioning and navigation was particularly interesting given the core values of integrity and honesty (ie. “moral compass”) and customer education (ie. “guidance”). In a way, “reckoning” is as much about guiding businesses ethically and professionally as it is about literally keeping the accounts.
